This ABS hard hat is designed as a lightweight, reliable head protection solution for industrial and construction environments. The shell is made from ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene), offering a good balance of strength and impact resistance while keeping overall weight low for all-day wear.
A 6-point nylon suspension helps distribute impact forces and enhances comfort, and the helmet is available in a range of standard safety colors. The design meets CE EN397 requirements for industrial safety helmets, including impact and penetration protection, and provides electrical insulation up to 440 V AC. The hard hat is manufactured in Taiwan and supplied by MUSSE PPE.
The 6-point suspension system and the internal geometry of the shell are designed to absorb and distribute impact energy in the event of falling objects. According to EN397 testing principles, a 5 kg striker is dropped from a height of 1,000 mm and the transmitted force to the headform must remain at or below 5 kN to pass the standard. The suspension and shell work together to reduce the force transmitted to the wearer’s head.
The hard hat is designed to protect the wearer from penetration by sharp falling objects. In EN397-style penetration tests, a 3 kg pointed striker is dropped from 1,000 mm onto the helmet mounted on a headform, and the striker must not make contact with the headform beneath the shell. The ABS construction and suspension system help maintain this protective barrier.
An optional MU-28101 chin strap can be used with this hard hat to improve retention, especially for work at height or in active environments. The chin strap design meets EN397 and ANSI Z89.1 requirements, helping to keep the helmet securely in place while also providing a controlled release range.
To reduce the risk of strangulation, the chin strap is designed so that it does not release or break below a force of 150 N, and will release or break between 150 N and 250 N. This helps ensure the helmet stays on during normal movements and minor impacts, but will release under excessive load.
