Description

The MU-41104 is the only item in this range that carries a mechanical protection feature as well as a thermal one: it is steel-toed. In a foundry the foot faces two unrelated hazards at once, a dropped mould or ingot and a run of molten metal across the floor, and a boot has to answer both.

The 8 in boot height sets where the gaiter overlaps. Splash that lands on a boot needs to run off rather than pool at an opening, which is why the aluminized face and the height matter more here than the fabric area does. Worn with the gaiters and trousers, the leg assembly closes from hem to sole.

Q: Why steel-toed when the rest of the range is thermal only?

A: Because the foot is the one place where a dropped object and a molten run arrive at the same location. The rest of the range addresses radiant heat and splash; the boot has to address impact as well.

Q: How do the boots work with the gaiters?

A: The gaiter overlaps the 8 in boot top so splash runs off the outside rather than into the opening. Ordering boots without gaiters leaves that junction open, which is where leg assemblies usually fail.
